I know the Minister understands, but that is the direction in which we should be moving. I accept the State is funding the service, but direct public provision would allow us to deal with issues of wages and strategic planning for new child care providers in areas where they are required. It can help us in terms of quality, and it is a much better model. We should be moving strongly towards it. Public funding is welcome and an improvement on the situation that went before but I think we need towards public provision.
