Clarification of Matters Relating to Meeting of 2 February 2016

Mr. Tony O'Brien:
Let us be clear here. There are two parts to this. One is whether there was sufficient funding provided for Grace's care. It has been acknowledged by the HSE, in a settlement agreed and approved by the President of the High Court, that there should be additional funding of €600,000 retrospectively provided to the service provider. The second part is whether other aspects of the agency's funding were adversely affected as a result of the relationship between it and the local representatives of the HSE in the context of their whistleblowing. That is the second part of the Deloitte review. When I have that, I will have an objective opinion as to whether this agency was penalised more generally, underfunded or cut - whatever terms we want to use - in ways that do not relate to the issue of insufficient funding being provided for the care of Grace.
