All I can say is that our existing case law and the interpretation of our existing legislation has confined liability to material loss. That has now been changed by this. There is, inevitably, the risk of extended or expanded compensation claims arising from this. This is all the more reason that those who process personal data need to gear up in advance of implementation in May next year.
