With regard to services provided under the Garda Síochána Act - I forget which section - one can request the provision of Garda services to cover concerts, athletic events and games. The process is that the local superintendent would look for a financial sanction to undertake the duty. The sanction would be granted by my office and then the number of hours required to discharge the duty would be calculated. A rate per hour is applied and billed to the event organiser. The money is received by us and is accounted for in the appropriations-in-aid.
