I obviously find it fundamentally difficult to see the separation of responsibility from a pigeon hole perspective, as Deputy MacSharry described it. These matters are material. This is the public purse. This is not about €100,000.

We are talking about something between €12.4 and maybe €18 million of taxpayers' money, which operated off-balance sheet, outside the line. I can only bring to this what would be expected of me in a private sector context. In fact, it is a lot tighter in the context of the blue book, so simply to say "I blew a bugle and then I went and did my daily chores", I know that would not wash elsewhere.
