Pilot Training College of Ireland: Discussion
1:30 pm
Imelda Munster (Louth, Sinn Fein) | Oireachtas source
In his opening statement, Mr. Kealy referred to the fact that the legislation on the basis of which the IAA was established makes it very difficult to take legal action. Given the huge cost involved for an individual to take legal action after suffering such financial loss, what is the remedy? On the issue of the wrong accounts being audited, the fact that the pilot training college's accounts were not audited and the fact that the IAA was responsible to ensure that the company had sufficient funds to provide the courses, did the witnesses ever get a satisfactory explanation from the IAA? Did it take responsibility? It does not seem that it was prepared to take it further. It did not accept that it did not carry out the job that it was tasked with.
