It is possible. If one considers the trends in non-standard work, some of them started before the recession. For example, increases in the incidence of part-time work started before the recession. In the case of reduction in working hours, accommodation and restaurants have seen the biggest drop in working hours since the early 1990s, but most of that drop happened before the recession.
