This is first contact information that is given to people. Section 6(8) provides that a member of the Garda Síochána or an officer of the Ombudsman Commission, as the case may be, shall, where the victim consents, arrange for the victim to be referred to a service which provides support for victims. That is a different provision. This discussion concerns giving information. I do not want to divide the committee on this issue if it can be avoided so I am prepared to re-examine the matter and also to take on board what Deputy Jack Chambers said. I do not want to put an unworkable provision in place but I appreciate what Deputies have said. We can re-examine it on Report Stage, if that will satisfy Deputies, at which point we can attempt to phrase it in such a way that it will not be impossible to operate. I am willing to discuss the matter and, if possible, bring forward a solution on Report Stage.
