Development and Co-operation in Border Counties: Discussion (Resumed)
2:10 pm
Mr. Aidan Gough:
Ulster University has just completed a piece of research in looking at the potential impact of Brexit on Border counties and regions. On labour costs, one of the most significant issues is the availability of migrant labour. The Ulster University research shows that 50% of the migrant labourers who come to Northern Ireland live and work in Border communities. I think 20% of the migrant labourers who come to the Republic of Ireland live and work in Border counties. There could be a significant impact.
