The committee has heard about the difficulties with the length of loans. There is some disquiet about pressure being put on farmers to take out a loan for a shorter period. What criteria does the bank use in general to determine whether a loan should be taken out for one year, two years or six years? The main purpose of this loan scheme was to help cash flow. In the event that somebody has to take out a loan for a shorter rather than a longer period, there will be no benefit from a cash flow point of view. What criteria are used to determine the length of loans?
