I moved to An Garda Síochána in June 2007. The report I found on the files was from the year before I started in An Garda Síochána. There was an internal audit unit in An Garda Síochána from 2001, as far as I know, but it was staffed entirely by uniformed gardaí who did not have the requisite professional experience. I came on board as an established head of internal audit. My previous job was head of internal audit in the then Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources.
