Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach

Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals

10:00 am

Mr. Pádraig Dalton:

No, exactly. In total, we have little over 14,000 exporters in the country and about 2,000 of them fall below the threshold. The total value of exports is of the order of €60 billion and the excluded enterprises only account for about €1.2 billion. Again, it is the structure of the Irish economy and the concentration and importance of a relatively small number of large enterprises.
