I wish to add to that that the Law Society is adamant that one cannot pick and choose between children whether in private or public law and one cannot pick and choose between the various courts. There is a constitutional imperative that the voice of the child must be heard and, according to our submission, head 8 must be amended so that there is not a discretion but a mandatory obligation for the appointment of a GAL.
