It was actually after the tests the Medical Bureau of Road Safety carried out which showed that the figures were 100% over-inflated. Professor Cusack was on the airwaves the other morning and he made it very clear that it is quite simple to monitor these devices. Before the Garda goes out, a record of the number is taken and the same is done when he comes back. The Garda introduced that system, that paper audit, in April 2016. Why did the Garda not do it in 2014 when the Garda knew about this? Why did the Garda wait until March 2017, after The Irish Timesarticle, to ask the Medical Bureau of Road Safety about it when the bureau had this information all along? The Garda did not need to have an internal audits. The Medical Bureau of Road Safety had the information.
