Based on what the officials have said, what we are hearing here and what we teased out last week on this subject, this is surely a major issue in the Brexit negotiations when Government representatives speak on behalf of the State to the other 27 member states.

It is important that our Minister and Taoiseach do everything possible to make sure these issues are dealt with, but we also have a responsibility here to make sure we push on with the renewable energy sector. We have a huge responsibility as an Oireachtas to do that and so do Departments, industry and citizens. It will not be done by those in this building but through what happens outside. It highlights the need to push this on without delay.
