My overall objective is to maximise the number of viable jobs that can be maintained in this organisation which is facing a financial crisis. I am doing everything in my power to make sure we get this company into a much better operational and structural efficiency perspective. This would allow me to minimise the potential voluntary redundancies that may arise at some point in the future. The more I can pull out of all other non-payroll costs the more flexibility it gives me to engage with the staff representatives and the staff themselves. I want jobs to remain. I must emphasise that I believe Bus Éireann is a premium employer and I am committed to making sure that basic pay is not impacted as a result of this plan.
