The figure for Ireland is 125 litres, which is very close to the European average. The figures quoted in Britain are higher, at approximately 134 litres per person per day. In many cases, the figures are quoted on the basis that there are no meters. Scotland, for example, does not have meters and the figure of 145 is, therefore, an estimate. Ireland's daily usage figure of 125 litres per person is very close to and probably slightly higher than the European average.
