Sustaining Viable Rural Communities: Discussion (Resumed)
9:00 am

I want to ask the same question that was asked by two other members. Why are people being directed into towns and villages and away from the rural areas where they were reared? If an elderly person's house falls into disrepair, a rural cottage will not be built for him or her. Only three were built in Kerry in the past eight years. Where a fellow wants to stay with his few cattle where he was born and reared, it seems to be the policy not to allow that. Not even a demountable home will be provided.
