Joint Oireachtas Committee on Finance, Public Expenditure and Reform, and Taoiseach

Banking Sector in Ireland: Allied Irish Banks

9:30 am

Mr. Mark Burke:

Once we had done the fist step of capital re-organisation, which was to get the €3.5 billion converted and repay the CoCo, the next conversation immediately moved to when do we start to pay a dividend. As Mr. Bernard Byrne said, that is a three-cornered discussion with the regulator, the shareholder - the Department - and ourselves. We moved straight from re-org to dividend in terms of discussion.
