The Central Statistics Office is trying to move away from exclusive reliance on paper based data collection towards a web based data collection approach similar to the Revenue online service for collecting data from businesses. This would be much more efficient and effective for businesses. While it would require up-front investment, it would, over time, further reduce the burden on businesses. We are very conscious of the burden we are placing on businesses and the need to ask questions in a manner that is consistent with the way in which the entities or companies compile their accounts.
