Management of Chronic Care Illness: Discussion

9:00 am

Dr. Brian Osborne:

I trained in Ballymun for a year and was a locum there for approximately six months. I would love to have stayed on and set up in Ballymun but the system precluded me from doing that. I am an example of the inverse care law at work. If everything that Dr. Murphy and Dr. Noonan alluded to wasin situat the time, I would probably be working and living in Ballymun now.

GPs who are not in primary centres can be excluded from primary care teams. This issue needs to be addressed.
