These people remained in situwith renewed contracts. For example, consultant A had contracts dated October 2013, February 2014, September 2014 and January 2015. This person's four contracts' daily rates ranged from €362 per day to €604 per day at a total cost of €146,000. The Department had from 2005 to 2013 to get its act together, but no procurement process was followed in respect of this individual. That is totally unacceptable. That Mr. Griffin is now saying that the Department was in a hurry is not good enough for me as a public representative. The Department of Public Expenditure and Reform also failed the public in this, as it was aware of the situation. The Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources made it aware, as did the Comptroller and Auditor General, yet nothing happened. Nothing ever happens as regards procurement.
