I referred to a number of nationalities mentioned in the responses I received from the Department. Members of the public would ask, in the context of the common travel area and those individuals applying for asylum, how different it will be under the new system. While the figure of 3,800 is not massive in comparison with other European countries, it is growing quite considerably.
