Committee of Inquiry into the Banking Crisis
Nexus Phase
Mr. Pat McArdle:
No, Deputy, this is something I have been thinking about for a while now. You know I mean it is clearly here that there's a ... there's a misalignment of impression ... you know ... you ... the way things operate in ... I worked in both the public and private sectors. The way things operate in both those areas, perhaps it's different in academia, is that you do your job, you're in an area and you are consulted or not. Rob Wright who, was in with ye, he said that in the Department of Finance he was shocked to see that people went home on budget night without knowing what was in the budget. That's perhaps an extreme example of the type of thing ... but the fact that I was in Ulster Bank doesn't mean I know ... I knew anything at all about the matters you are discussing.
