Overview of the Banking Sector in Ireland: Allied Irish Banks
2:00 pm
Mr. David Duffy:
We have a very simple approach. The bank was losing billions and we had to return it to profitability. We are on that journey, but we are not yet at the end. We do not look at other extraneous factors, rather we look at a stable banking business which is the largest in the country and systemic to return it to a below average level of profitability. That is what we have achieved to date. That is our primary focus, namely, making sure the taxpayer will never again have to put funds into the bank.
