Intellectual Disability and Ageing: Discussion

The thrust of my question related to encouraging employers to give serious consideration to taking on people with disabilities. Before I was elected to this House, I was a member of South Dublin County Council, which had a very active policy of employing a proportion of people with disability - not necessarily intellectual disability, but a variety of different disabilities. I think there is some level of encouragement to try to attain a certain percentage. I forget what the percentage is. I think it is in the region of 3% to 5%. Work probably needs to be done to make employers realise that it is possible to take on people with any kind of disability.
