Committee of Inquiry into the Banking Crisis

Context Phase

Professor John FitzGerald:

I would have recommended to the then Minister for Finance, and I subsequently recommended, that he go and talk to Patrick Honohan. I have a DVD of what Patrick Honohan said on the Vincent Browne show two days later and his lecture, which was that while it was not the best outcome for Ireland, something had to be done. He was the international expert, not part of the administration. Had he been consulted, there would have been a different outcome.
