Firearms Licences: (Resumed) Discussion

10:00 am

Mr. Nicholas Flood:

It can be easily clarified. Assaults rifles are illegal in Ireland and every other country in Europe but the difficulty is the use of language. It may have been the case that Chief Superintendent Healy made an error. An assault rifle is selectable fire and when the trigger is pulled, it will fire many rounds. No such rifle is held by a legally held licensee in Ireland.
