I welcome the witnesses to the committee. I listened carefully to their submissions, as I did to Chief Superintendent Healy when he was before the committee. I am not a firearms expert so witnesses will have to bear with me. They will probably find I make points on which I am not accurate. However, I am just giving the picture as I see it. I represent a north Dublin constituency where, unfortunately, there is gangland crime and where illegally held firearms are used. People are shot in the street and in their homes. I recall, in particular, the shooting of a young woman called Donna Cleary in 2006 in Coolock.
