Preparedness for Ebola Virus in Ireland: Discussion
11:55 am
Billy Kelleher (Cork North Central, Fianna Fail) | Oireachtas source
A person who suspects that he or she may have Ebola is supposed to contact his or her GP. Then the GP runs an algorithm which assesses the risk and if a person is found to be high risk, he or she is referred to a hospital. Is that not weak link? Should the GP go to the residence of the person in the first place to conduct a full assessment as opposed to referring a person to a hospital? Otherwise it is possible that an infected person could wander into a hospital. Will the delegation to clarify the matter?
