If an individual who is competent enough to be a member of the agency stands for election to his or her local authority and is elected, he or she may no longer be a member of the agency. The same applies if he or she stands for election to the Seanad or the Dáil. However, if he or she runs for election as President, he or she can remain a member of the agency.
