2012 Annual Report and Appropriation Accounts of the Comptroller and Auditor General
Chapter 4 - Vote Accounting
Chapter 10 - Central Government Funding of Local Authorities
Chapter 11 - Costs of Land Remediation
Vote 25 - Department of the Environment, Community and Local Government

Mr. John McCarthy:

The Government has decided that there will be a 80% local retention rate of local property tax proceeds in the area in which they are collected. In the example the Deputy gives, if €10 million is collected in one local authority area, €8 million will be retained in that area and the balance will be retained in a central fund to support the local authorities that have a weaker local property tax base.
