I was very interested when Mr. Taft spoke about targeting certain industries - he mentioned the chemical and perhaps the pharmaceutical sectors - with some additional reliefs that might stimulate them to come into the country. This perhaps would move into a space in which other countries are to be found. I was interested to hear Mr. Taft say this because essentially, this would mean placing small Irish businesses at a disadvantage because in effect, they would be paying a higher corporation tax rate than such pharmaceutical and multinational entities.
