General Scheme of Children and Family Relationships Bill 2014: Discussion
10:10 am
Dr. Geoffrey Shannon:
The surrogate mother. This is in the context of the surrogate mother giving consent at 30 days. I wonder why it is 30 days given the position in a similar statute. If this is about protecting children, then one would have thought there should be a consistency across the two statutes. This is not only about looking within this legislation. It comes up later in the context of cohabitation. We should consider the definition of cohabitation as set out in section 172 of Civil Partnership and Certain Rights and Obligations of Cohabitants Act and whether that should be examined alongside the provisions in the children and family relationships Bill.
