In keeping with the Commission on Assisted Human Reproduction report, I endorse the view that there should be regulation of in vitrofertilisation, IVF, egg and sperm donation, etc. It is something that should be covered by this Bill with regard to parentage. It concerns legal relationships and family structure. I understand the Department of Health is considering a regulatory system about what services and facilities IVF clinics should be able to provide. The matter should be covered either by this Bill or the legislation from the Department of Health. It may fit better in the Bill from the Department of Health, unless we are dealing with specific issues around parentage and family relationships. There should be regulation in this regard.
