Suicide in Ireland: Discussion
11:10 am
Dr. Steve MacFeely:
In response to Deputy Byrne, mortality statistics go back as far as 1864 but the Central Statistics Office has been involved since the 1950s. A review was carried out in the 1980s where suicide was again the topic and there were concerns about the level and recording of suicide. That is when the form 104 was introduced. There might be issues with comparability. I congratulate Deputy Gilmore on his table.
