I also congratulate Professor Arensman on her recent election to the post of president of the International Association for Suicide Prevention. I thank the witnesses for their very interesting contributions and look forward, if possible, to exploring at a deeper level some of the issues they raised. It is convenient that some of them are, like the Chairman and myself, based in Cork.

To elaborate a little on an issue raised by Deputy Ó Caoláin, it would be useful to establish in the first instance if suicide is being under-reported and, if so, where the under-reporting occurs in the mechanism for collecting data.
