The figures from the answer to the parliamentary question add the cost of living allowance to the local post allowance, child foreign allowance, other foreign service allowance, rent, furniture, school fee, assistant, representation, health insurance and medical expenses, detention, disturbance and temporary accommodation costs allowances. I am not saying any of these are invalid. In 2012 this total came to €21.5 million, which represents 28% of the Department's total pay costs. That seems extremely high.
