I move amendment No. 178:


In page 70, between lines 6 and 7, to insert the following:
"CHAPTER 2
Office of the Legal Costs Adjudicators
Office
81.(1) The Office heretofore known as the Taxing-Masters’ Office shall be known as the Office of the Legal Costs Adjudicators.
(2) The Minister may, in accordance with the provisions of the Courts (Supplemental Provisions) Act 1961, appoint—(a) the Chief Legal Costs Adjudicator, and
(b) such number of Legal Costs Adjudicators that the Minister, with the consent of the Minister for Public Expenditure and Reform, determines to be the number necessary to ensure that the work of the Office may be carried out effectively and efficiently.(3) A function, power or jurisdiction conferred by or under any enactment on a Taxing-Master shall be deemed to be conferred on the Chief Legal Costs Adjudicator and every Legal Costs Adjudicator.
(4) The role and functions of the Chief Legal Costs Adjudicator and every Legal Costs Adjudicator appointed under this Act are limited to the jurisdiction heretofore proper to the Taxing-Masters’ Office and shall not extend to the lower courts or to the jurisdiction of County Registrars.".
