Our new chief nursing officer, Dr. Siobhán O'Halloran, and I attended a conference on end-of-life services recently. We were told that very few people out of nursing homes now die in accident and emergency departments. There is a new system in place to ensure that people can remain in what is tantamount to their homes. Figures were produced to prove that very few people among the cohort in question now die in accident and emergency units or hospitals. Where end-of-life services are concerned-----
