Oversight of Irish Water: Discussion

8:40 pm

Ms Maria Graham:

Yes. As the Secretary General noted, there are 13 work streams. We were meeting regularly with local authorities, Bord Gáis and Irish Water through these. We could see the output of the ongoing work. In terms of the work streams, in any area of the organisation, such as the capital programme and the operations dealing with service level agreements, the work would have been led by Bord Gáis people and subsequently Irish Water but it was supported in different areas by external support. It was only a question of going to the resource, which was a Bord Gáis resource, in Foley Street, where the programme was situated, to see people working on the systems and software development necessary to build the utility. In addition to examining budgets and programme initiation documents and activities we were highly engaged at a top level work stream in observing how all the pieces were coming together to deliver the utility on time and within the budget that had been set.
