Prevention and Treatment of Lyme Disease: Discussion
10:55 am
Dr. Eoin Healy:
The neuroborreliosis form of the disease is notifiable. Studies conducted in NUIG indicate that only 50% of the cases it has examined have neurological symptoms. In other words, half of the cases have other symptoms, such as arthritic or cardiac involvement or whatever. Therefore, only half of all cases passing through GP surgeries are notifiable.
