I thank Mr. Smyth for his remarks. I have two questions. First, has the OPW any function in regard to oyster farming? I am thinking of Clarinbridge in County Galway, in particular, and other areas around the coast. Would consultation take place in regard to what oysters farmers try to do? When a flood scheme is proposed for an area, whether it be a turlough or an area where there is oyster farming, there is an issue as to how a drainage scheme will be dealt with in that regard.

My second question relates to a major issue of discussion in my area and in the midlands, namely, the River Shannon, in the context of our dealing with the various flood relief programmes. How does that fit in with coastal policy and coastal erosion?
