The purpose of this part of the meeting is to discuss with the Minister the achievements of the Irish Presidency in the area of justice and home affairs, including an update on the data protection package and the upcoming Justice and Home Affairs Council meeting.

I ask all present to ensure that mobile telephones are switched off completely. Silent mode is not sufficient as this interferes with the recording system and it is not fair to the staff. Briefing notes have been circulated to members. I welcome the Minister and his officials.
