Mr. Gary Tobin:

As I understand it, the testimony to the Senate sub-committee to which the Deputy referred came out the day before the actual hearings. It is certainly true that, when we saw that testimony, we contacted the company and asked it to explain the background to what it was saying. It was purely an information-gathering exercise. From my recollection, we certainly did not ask the company to say or do anything. I suppose we felt it would not be appropriate just to sit on our hands and do nothing if Ireland's tax regime was being called into question. There was a duty on us at least to try to find out what exactly was going on. It was a relatively short telephone call with, as I recall, an official from the company in London.
