I agree with the two previous speakers. There is no doubt that irrespective of one's position on the overall debate or the substantive issues, the proposal in section 22 is completely unacceptable to the majority of people in society who would have grave concerns that the scale of the penalties envisaged in the Bill would apply to a woman in this situation. I appeal to the Minister to look at the amendment of section 22(2) as proposed by the Deputies and to consider accepting the amendment to insert, "other than the pregnant woman concerned".
