I appreciate this but I disagree that their opinion does not matter. To give the banking inquiry as an example, some State employees were present and had expert opinion and inside opinion. A committee of inquiry might call an expert and ask his or her opinion and it would be argued his or her opinion matters. I understand what the Minister stated but I see no downside to a committee of inquiry being able to ask for the opinion of a State employee. I fully accept that this would not be about holding State employees accountable for this policy, which is the crux of what the Minister stated, as the Government of the time would be held accountable.
