Bank of Ireland and Anglo Irish Bank were two of the banks foremost in supplying investment to large property deals and large construction activities at that time. Did it not occur to anyone during the previous two meetings that their banks might have been involved in looking to secure funding for the deal if it was agreed by the board? It is not only a matter of an actual conflict of interest, it is also a potential conflict of interest.
