The committee is now in public session. We will consider COM (2012) 541, proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on in vitro diagnostic medical devices and COM (2012) 542, proposal for a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on medical devices, amending Directive 2001/83/EC, Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 and Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009.

Having reviewed the correspondence from the stakeholders, I also propose that the committee request that the Department of Health and Children and the Irish Medicines Board attend a meeting of the committee to answer any questions members may have on the proposals I have outlined and to update the committee on the previous discussions we have had as a committee on PIP implants and DePuy hip replacements. Is that agreed? Agreed.
