The paper suggested, in 2008, that the levels of child poverty in Ireland had declined over the previous four years. It pointed out that the percentage of children from aged from 0 to 17 years in relative poverty or at risk of poverty had declined from 22.7% in 2004 to 19.9% in 2007, while the percentage of children who were in consistent poverty had also declined from 9.7% in 2004 to 7.4% in 2007. If only that was where we were working from today, four years on.
